Citadel Joinery operates from Bryncoch Sawmill in Welshpool, Powys — on the Welsh-English border in the Severn Valley. We’re a joinery workshop, a timber yard, and a sawmill on one site. The timber we build with is timber we fell, mill, dry, and machine ourselves.
Why we exist
Most joinery workshops are separated from their material by a supply chain they don’t control — merchants, importers, middlemen. We started with the woodland. Douglas Fir from our own forestry operation. Oak and hardwoods from local estates within 50 miles. The joinery business grew from the timber, not the other way around.
What we believe
Material integrity. You should know where your timber was felled, how it was dried, and who cut the joints. We can tell you all three for every piece we make. That traceability isn’t a marketing claim — it’s a consequence of doing everything on one site.
Craft with precision. Traditional joinery knowledge combined with CNC machining. We don’t see these as opposites. The CNC lets us execute complex geometry accurately and repeatably. The hand finishing is where craft shows. Both matter.
Build to last. We build structures and furniture that outlast fashion. Oak frames stand for centuries. A well-made table gets passed down. We’re not interested in disposable work — we build things that stay.
